2008 GALA

We are pleased to announce that the 2008 GALA will be held Saturday, November 1, 2008, at the Westin Hotel, 601 South College Street, Charlotte, NC. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. with dinner being served at 7:00 p.m.

Entertainment will be provided by the Fabulous Grecian Keys, including Arabic, Greek and American music. There will also be a special presentation highlighting our First 10 Years.

GOYA will be packing 200 "Snow Packs" for Friendship Trays. "Snow Packs" are emergency food packs provided to recipients of Friendship Trays so they will not miss a meal in the event of inclement weather.

Items needed: inidividual packs of applesauce, fruit; individual packages of graham crackers or cookies; canned veggies;canned pasta(no tomato sauce), potatoes and rice;canned chicken or chicken in foil pack, canned tuna or tuna in foil pack.

Asking all ladies of St. Nektarios to include Philoptochos in your personal calendar of activities and programs for the 2008-09 ecclesiastical year. Philoptochos (friend of the poor) has been serving others for over six decades. Through your support, we can make a difference in the lives of others locally, nationally and internationally.

There will be a Philoptochos Board Meeting on Thursday, October 2nd at 7:30 p.m.
On Thursday, October 16 at 7:00 p.m. there will be a General Meeting with Bingo Fun.

Tuesdays, following Paraklesis, Father Gregory will be teaching, "Our Journey through the Scriptures"

Tuesdays,at 5:45 p.m. there will be dinner followed by Growing in the Faith with Fr. Steve and Gerry Clonaris at 6:45 p.m. There are child friendly food options.

Orthodoxy 101 is a new 6 week session which will be offered on Thursdays, beginning October 16th at 7:00 p.m.

Adult Catechism (Ask Seek Knock, A.S.K.)is offered after the Divine Liturgy on Sundays in the Spiritual Life Center.

October 19 - Organizational meeting following Divine Liturgy for those interested in Greek dance for ages 11-17.
Sunday, October 26th is Youth Liturgy.Youth of the parish will be serving with the adults in celebrating Divine Liturgy to include Welcome Team, as Ushers, giving the Homily, singing and more.

On October 9th we will host and entertain our friends from Annunciation Church in Winston-Salem at St. Nektarios. There will be a 5:30 p.m. Paraklesis followed by dinner and entertainment with an all star revue directed by Jerry Clonaris starting at 6:00 p.m.

On November 13th there will be a Thanksgiving dinner at 6:00 p.m. at the St. Nektarios Spiritual Life Center.
